Abstract

The objective was to evaluate the effect of including 2% cinnamon powder, dehydrated oregano and annatto powder in the feed of broilers at 42 days of age, on the biochemical profile of the blood. The experimental design was entirely randomized, with four treatments and seven repetitions of 10 birds. At 42 days of age, blood was collected and serum biochemical evaluation was performed, in which calcium, phosphorus, total protein, cholesterol levels were evaluated with commercial kits and calcium/phosphorus ratio. With this, it is concluded that the inclusion of phytogenic additives present in the feed of broilers at 42 days of age influenced the biochemical profile of the blood and the powdered annatto, a natural pigment, reflected in an improvement of the Ca/P ratio of minerals and plasma protein level. The biochemical profile of cholesterol was not influenced by the 2% cinnamon, oregano and annatto.
