Abstract

The skin is the largest organ in the human body and among its functions are homeostasis, protection, sensoriality, thermoregulation and metabolism, in which its integrity is crucial to the health of the body. Injuries to the skin can be traumatic, surgical or pathological, and the mode of repair is determined according to the tissue involved in the injury, both in terms of depth and tissue loss. Second intention repair occurs when the injury is unable to approach the edges.
