Abstract
Brazil has faced many political pressures due to persistent and significant increases in fuel prices, among other sensitive prices in the economy. The fuel market in the country is also strongly influenced by the presence of a state-owned company, Petrobras. Despite the opening of the research and exploration market in 1997, the refining segment still has a strong presence of this company. Furthermore, it can be said that the private wholesale market is essentially concentrated, as is the automotive fuel import market. Given this context, in the governmental sphere, policymakers have been facing many difficulties in the search for answers to the question. Thus, this work seeks to discuss some suggestions presented and indicate ways in favor of a balanced solution to the situation discussed here.
