Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance represents a significant global challenge in both human and veterinary medicine. The inappropriate use of antibiotics contributes to the rapid development and spread of resistant microorganisms, which can affect both animals and humans. The lack of control in the use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine, including prescription without professional supervision and use as growth promoters, amplifies this problem. Antimicrobial resistance compromises the effectiveness of treatments and increases costs, and is a critical point for One Health, where the sharing of antibiotics between humans and animals further complicates the therapeutic and preventive approach.
