The study investigates the convergence between accessibility and the protection of cultural heritage in Praça Gomes Freire, Mariana/MG. Following the controversy surrounding the construction of an access ramp, the work analyzes the interaction between the interests of civil society, public authorities and local stakeholders. It uses a qualitative methodological approach, exploring legal frameworks, theories of cultural heritage, memory, tourism and accessibility. It concludes that it is possible to reconcile these rights through an open and participatory dialogue between the parties involved, reflecting a commitment to inclusion and the preservation of historical heritage.
