Pregnancy is a special moment for women, but the body changes typical of this phase can cause discomfort and edema in the lower limbs. With the objective of investigating the effects of manual lymphatic drainage in the prevention and reduction of discomfort and lower limb edema in pregnant and postpartum women, a descriptive review study was carried out. It can be concluded that manual lymphatic drainage is a safe, practical and efficient method recommended to reduce swelling, pain and discomfort in pregnant and postpartum women.
