The solitary fibrous tumor of the pleura, first conceptualized in 1870, is a rare mesenchymal neoplasm that represents less than 5% of all tumors originating in the pleura. It is most common between the sixth and seventh decade of life, affecting men and women equally, with no associated hereditary or environmental risk factors.
