Abstract

Ureteral triplication is due to the abnormal development of the ureteral bud, which begins in the 4th week of gestation. The ureteral bud, originating from the mesonephric duct, comes into contact with the nephrogenic blastema, and then the metanephric mesenchyme induces the ureteral bud to divide. Interference in this branching process can result in some anomalies, such as duplication or triplication of the ureter. Ureteral triplication is a very rare congenital disease. It is slightly more common in females and is usually associated with other congenital anomalies.
