Abstract

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are prevalent and represent a global challenge for health services. They can be classified as low (cystitis) or high (pyelonephritis) and affect all age groups, with a higher incidence in women. Treatment is based on antibiotics, but antimicrobial resistance is a growing concern, requiring monitoring and judicious use of antibiotics.
